My soul sank beneath the waves
My vain struggles were at an end
The surface of hope shrank from view
As I descended into the depth of the sea
The darkness enveloped me
The cold chilled my bones
The pressure crushed me
Sinking, collapsing, groaning
Like a ship dying in the ocean
The straw I clutched fell from my upraised hand
In despair I whispered "Lord save me"
The Lord heard my murmur
He moved over the face of the waters
And saw me through the enveloping death
He spoke the words "Let there be light"
The clouds were pushed aside
The brightness of the noon day sun
Pierced to the bottom of the deepest crevasse
Dispelling all the darkness
I felt my soul lifting
As on the wings of a great eagle
Strong solid strokes, rising
Beating Grace, Grace, lifting me up
With the undercurrent of His love
I was flying through the clouds
Over the mountains
Watching all the people as specks on the ground
The houses and the cars like toys on the carpet
Breathing the fresh air
The scent of the freedom of the Spirit
Lightness and purity
I was cradled
Folded close in His arms
"I have found you", He said
"I have found you whom I had lost"
