God's Solid Word

If God be for us who can stand against us
He who has chosen us before the foundation of the world
And has given all things for life and godliness
He who has given us His Holy Spirit
That our empty vessels might speak the word with authority
The Author speaking His Spirit and Life through us
Using our empty vessels to refresh the weary
His witnesses in a world of doubt, fear, and mistrust
Where words are no longer as good as a bond
Changeable as the wind
Spoken words as stable as a wind dried straw
Grasped by a desperate man in an attempt to save himself
Only to find them breaking off in his clenched hand
That which seemed like a ray of hope
Becomes the last disappointment before a certain death
Yet God in His mercy has chosen us to proclaim His Word
The Word of life, authoritative, life giving
So that all those around us may hear His voice
An eternally unchanging, unvarying, unwavering Word
Solidity in a world of fluidity.
