God Relationship

Some treat God as a king
They bow and scrape, They beg and plead
They pay their taxes, They obey all the rules
The commands and the orders, The jots and the tittles
They seek to please for benefits received
God to be feared, Fear that has torment
Fear of judgment, Burning punishment
No love needed, all care no responsibility
Just do as your told no questions to be asked
Blind obedience, no faith required
Faithful God fearing servants

Some Treat God as a friend
They arrive occasionally
Eat the biscuits, scoff the cake
Drink the coffee, raid the fridge
Spend time talking laughing
Telling stories and events
Go on outings, best mates
Then they leave and are gone
The odd phone call and email
Asking favours, requesting help
Until the next time they come...

Some treat God as a father
Flesh and blood relationship
Living together under the same roof
The father providing every thing,
Disciplined, trained and tutored
Working hard in the fathers vineyard
Expecting a living and an inheritance
The Diligent and and Prodigal loved alike
Loved for who they are not what they do
Unconditional love, An inseparable bond,
Always sons of the Father

Some treat God as a bridegroom
An intimate relationship
Inseparably close, Fitted together
Sharing everything, withholding nothing
The bank account and the bedroom
The bride and groom seeking to please each other
Enjoying each others presence
Longing to be together when apart
Providing, nurturing, loving and caring
Where the two become one flesh
Each for each other
